Shot to the head

For many months, Steve Hofstetter, the author of Student Body Shots, begged, pleaded, and groveled for us to review his book. He dangled what was the ultimate carrot: a free, autographed copy for a short amount of time reading and reviewing the book. What was there to lose? Apparently, the short amount of time it took to read it.

A knock-out for Ali

First Benny Hill. Then Monty Python. And now, Ali G. The alter ego of British comedian Sacha Baron Cohen, Ali G describes himself as a "Hip-hop journalist," and is the latest breed of British cutting-edge comedy to make a splash stateside, this time in the hilarious "Da Ali G" show, currently showing on HBO on Fridays after the mediocre "Real Time with Bill Maher.

Building the foundation of hope

The majority of students at Fairfield have probably never had to worry about keeping a roof over their heads, and most likely have not thought too much about those who have. There is, however, a group of students on campus who spend time each week helping to build affordable housing for low-income families.

Journalist speaks at Open Visions

When former CBS newsman Marvin Kalb agreed to talk at the Open Visions Forum at Fairfield University over a year ago, he planned to write a speech about his views on politics and his life as a journalist. Little did he know that one year later and just five days after the war in Iraq broke out, he would be speaking to a sold-out audience about his views on this war.
