Double majors at Fairfield expect to be recognized for the increased workload, but may be surprised when their diploma only lists one degree. "I thought about majoring in English and business, but only for two different degrees," said Caitlin Ledwith '07.

To most white students of Fairfield University, participation in UMOJA, the African-American Association on campus, is not under their list of extracurricular activities. Then there is Burim Gjidija '05. He is the first white student ever to be elected president of UMOJA, Fairfield University's black student organization.

Crash! Bam! Whack! Anyone who has ever been involved in a car accident knows the crunching sound of metal hitting metal. More than a few Fairfield University students know this sound as well. There are about 80 car accidents a year on campus, according to security reports.

Pothole anger runs deep for students Drivers beware: with the onset of warmer weather, more potholes are cropping up around campus, leaving some students concerned about their vehicles. The roads around Loyola, the athletic fields, and the S-turns by the library are in particularly bad condition.

If you don't have a parking permit, a student ID or are not registered as a visitor, don't even think of coming on campus - unless, of course, it is before 11 p.m. Although there is a security booth stationed at the main gate, it is only manned between the hours of 11 p.

Over the course of the year, the budget committee works to develop a balanced budget for Fr. Kelley to bring to the Board of Trustees. The committee consists of Fairfield's five vice presidents, three faculty members, one student and one university staff member.

Cokie Roberts, a former ABC News political commentator who now works for National Public Radio, will be the speaker at Fairfield University's 54th commencement on Sunday, May 23. "Cokie Roberts is an especially good and appropriate commencement speaker," said Frank Marx '04.
