To the Editor: The article written by Jess Mitchell is disturbing for at least two reasons. First, to my reading, the article does not explain clearly who did what to whom. It reports that it was Deirdre Eller who removed the issues of The Mirror. But the article then says that Mark Reed, " .

To the Editor: This morning I learned that a group of Mirror alumni were signing a petition protesting the Fairfield University administration pulling a recent issue off the racks. I understand the importance and the value of The Mirror acting as an uncensored and independent media source on campus.

To the Editor: Bravo to the editors of The Mirror for teaching a powerful lesson to the administration and student government at Fairfield University. After reading in the Sept. 14 issue of The Mirror how the University callously stripped the first amendment away from its students, I was delighted to read that the editors of the independent student newspaper did not lie down and surrender to the unprecedented and ignorant actions of the misguided regime.

To the Editor: [Dan McClorey's He Said, June 23, 2006] could have been written in my four years at Fairfield, but it doesn't mean it should have. My two cents is that it's not what you write but how you write it. I agree 100 percent that Fairfield needs to lighten up, but I also think this is locker room talk and has no place in a newspaper that is supposed to reflect the University.

To the Editor: As a former editor in chief of this fine publication, I wish I could say that I was shocked to learn of the systematic destruction of the orientation issue of The Mirror. Truth be told, staffers going back as far as my 2002-2003 reign of terror have often suspected this.

To the Editor: Ernest Hemingway. Mark Twain. R.L. Stine. Daniel McClorey. These men are some of the greatest authors of literature, who have entertained us with their masterpieces and caused us to ponder the deeper meaning of why we are all here in God's beautiful earth.

To the Editor: It is hard to find a place to begin when looking to document the series of missteps and mistakes made by Fairfield University's administration in the wake of their censorship of The Mirror's orientation issue during the summer. The first group that deserves to come under scrutiny is the administration under Mark Reed, head of student affairs.

In the past week, The Mirror received an overwhelming amount of feedback in response to the censorship of the orientation issue. The correspondence reflects a range of opinions - some applaud and criticize The Mirror staff while others condemn the administration and the action (or inaction) of student leaders.

The majority of faculty on campus is voicing concern over The Mirror's orientation issue being removed from the racks.

Fairfield University isn't always a calm place. Its inhabitants can sometimes be loud, rowdy, and aggressive. However, these words rarely describe freshman Mike Bennett, who was not himself last Thursday night. Bennett had been placed under a trance by Dr. Jim Wand, a stage hypnotist.
