Admin. on calendar change: Wait ’til next year

Administrators sent a letter to beach residents, landlords and parents last week notified them of an upcoming change in the academic calendar that would move up the beginning of the semester to late August, before Labor Day. But Academic Vice President Orin Grossman said after the letter had been sent that the change will not go into effect until the 2008-2009 school year.

To the Editor: I understand the interest in having a stag statue built and I think it would be a nice addition to the campus. However, the stag should be second in line. After having recently visited two Jesuit universities, I realized that Fairfield is missing a statue.

When we were young, Halloween was a time to partake in some extra sweet treats, hang out with our friends past the typical bed-time hour and possibly even go out on a school night. Now, Halloween is upon us and it's time to get real...real slutty. Yes, Halloween is the only time when we Fairfield ladies have a chance to really let our hair down and have an excuse to wear something a little more provocative than our favorite cardigans.

It's nearing the end of October, and once again, Halloween is upon us. The holiday of Halloween is named, of course, after the day's patron saint, Saint Halloween. It celebrates the day when Saint Halloween drove all of the snakes out of Ireland while freeing the Jews from Egypt.
