Wednesday night's speech centered around the biographies of Deloria's grandfather, grandmother and great aunt, and the struggles they dealt with in the Early 20th century.

Aftermath of Virginia Tech Tragedy: Effects Felt at Fairfield

On Tuesday, April 17, a nation grieved as it watched the horrific news unfold from the disaster at Virginia Tech University. Calin Calabrese '10 and the Fairfield EMS Rescue Team decided to do something to show Virginia Tech how much they cared. "I called an emergency meeting on Tuesday and told everyone to think of what can we do as a university to make a difference in showing how we feel about the tragedy," said Calabrese, the club's president.

Relay For a Cancer-Free Future

Cancer is considered a leading health concern worldwide, and Fairfield students have an opportunity to help bring about a cure for the disease. There are over 120 participants registered online and over 100 are expected to stop by throughout the 12-hour Relay For Life to be held this weekend to aid American Cancer Society initiatives.

Basketball Jerseys in Bookstore to Boost Stag Spirit

The Stag-positive campaign has touched nearly every aspect of school spirit at Fairfield. Now, FUSA President Hutch Williams '08 has moved on to retail. Williams is planning to sell Fairfield varsity men's basketball jerseys at the bookstore as early as next fall.

Who says you can't relive your childhood? This Saturday, 90 students got to do just that as they participated in Fairfield's version of the ever-favorite Nickelodeon game show, "Wild and Crazy Kids." Proudly decked out in outrageous costumes, 19 teams of five gathered on the Quad ready to compete as spectators cheered them on.

While many students mourn the loss of traditions, one senior event held strong this weekend: Mock Wedding. The bride, groom, bridesmaids, groomsmen, priest, ring bearer and flower girl were joined by approximately 350 guests on Lantern Point for a mock marriage ceremony.

Taylor Resigns After 20 Years at Fairfield

Ric Taylor, associate vice president for campus planning and operations, has worked at Fairfield for 20 years, although he never anticipated a lengthy stay. Taylor recently decided to step down. His resignation will be effective at the end of the academic year.
