Mirror announces its 34th editorial staff for 2008-09

With less than four weeks left in the semester, it may be 'goodbye work' and 'hello summer' for some students, but for members of the 34th editorial board of The Mirror, they will just begin to put their mark on the student-run publication. In one week, the team of experienced underclassmen will assume the role of publishing the weekly newspaper, under the guidance of Editor in Chief Alexandra Gross '09, the former assistant managing editor and online news copy editor.

This process ends with either a sigh of relief at a promising number or a cry of despair because, once again, you have been dished out the worst lottery number known to mankind and will therefore be waking up for classes at the crack of dawn instead of for that class you really need.

The country's widening "credit crunch" has caught up with the student lending industry, and students across the nation this spring may pay higher interest rates and fees and find it more difficult to borrow. Philip Lane, chair of the economics department at Fairfield, said everyone looking for loans this year will see the impact of the "credit crunch" problem.

Dance Ensemble finds a new rhythm

Some Fairfield women explained this weekend that they want "big spenders" and the lovey dovey "kiss, kiss" and that if their demands aren't met, "it's too late to apologize." These ladies are none other than the members of the Fairfield Dance Ensemble, who, in their show "Rhythm Nation," performed in front of an excited, rowdy audience Friday night at the Quick Center.

Ne-Yo vs. Ludacris

Like a couple of kids arguing in a sandbox, Sacred Heart and Fairfield University attempt to one up each other every year over their much-anticipated Spring Concerts. While FUSA did impress both Fairfield and Sacred Heart students this year by booking superstar Ludacris, it seems Sacred Heart won the battle once again, snagging both Ne-Yo and T-Pain to co-headline the Spring Concert, which will take place this Friday at the Pitt Center.
