Fairfield Fire Department responded to a fire at D’Valda & Sirico’s Dance and Music Centre, 1580 Post Road, at approximately 1 p.m.

Fairfield police officers were on scene to assist the fire department by shutting down one lane on the westbound side of Post Road between Reef and Mill Plain Roads.

Fire Chief Richard S. Felner said that a faulty ceiling fan could have started the fire that charred the far side of the building, but he is not certain of the exact cause at this time.

It is not known whether there was a class in session at the dance studio during the time of the call.

D’Valda & Siricio’s is located in a shopping center and is connected to other businesses such as Domino’s Pizza and Murren Insurance Agency, but no other businesses were affected.

This story will be updated once more information becomes available.
