Christmas is my favorite time to bake. Whether I’m whipping up something for a party or wrapping up some treats as a gift, there is always an excuse to bake. Another reason why I love this time of year is because my favorite desserts are made by the dozen. That’s right, it’s cookie season!

Every year I make the same cut out and chocolate chip cookies that have been passed down in my family from one generation to the next. However, I also like to try new recipes, like the one in this post. This particular recipe incorporates the holiday spirit with the addition of candy canes. I am sure Santa would love if you left these out Christmas night.

Holiday Cookie Bark

Ingredients:

1 roll of sugar cookie dough

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

4 candy canes, crushed to tiny pieces

1 cup of dark chocolate chips

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 350˚F. In a bowl combine cookie dough and semi-sweet chocolate chips until chips are evenly distributed through out the dough. Spread dough on a cookie sheet and pat down to bottom of the pan. Sprinkle candy cane pieces over dough.

2. Bake for 15 minutes until edges are golden brown. One out of the oven allow it to cool for 10 minutes.

3. Place dark chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl. Microwave the chocolate in 30-second intervals, mixing in between until completely melted (be careful not to burn it!).

4. Drizzle melted chocolate over cooled cookies. Allow chocolate to cool another 10 minutes.

5.Cut into rectangles to serve.

6.ENJOY!!!
