The Fairfield men’s basketball team bounced back from their two game losing streak to beat the Holy Cross Crusaders by a score of 73-52.

After returning home from a tough 10 point loss on the road against Minnesota, the Stags shot an impressive 50% from the floor in the second half to put away the Crusaders, in front of the sold out crowd at Alumni Hall.

Out of the four Stags who reached the double digit point mark, sophomore forward Maurice Barrow led the team his 15 points and 11 rebounds. Fairfield scored 50 points in the paint compared to Holy Cross’s 30, while the Stags also received 19 points off the bench.

Overall, the Stags were much more balanced than they had been in the previous contests and were focused on getting near the basket. Defensively, Fairfield limited the Crusaders opportunities and gave up a mere 23 points in the second half.

Fairfield now looks ahead to the Old Spice Classic that will be played in Orlando, Florida over Thanksgiving break. With the Stags matching up against Arizona State in the first round, this will be a great chance to blossom as a team in front of a national audience. The Stags will be featured against the Sun Devils at 9:30 p.m. on ESPN 2 this Thursday.
