Alright kiddies, push time is here; finals are just around the corner. So what do you do when you are stressed out and starving on Dec. 11, the night before the grind of finals begins?

Run over to the Barone Campus Center for some FREE breakfast served to you by faculty members.

Yes, you read it correctly. Faculty members will be serving a free breakfast at the Fall 2002 Midnight Breakfast event from 10:30 p.m. until 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday Dec. 11.

The idea for a Midnight Breakfast was inspired by Graduate Assistant Erin Morrell’s UConn undergradtuate experience. According to Morrell, UConn sponsored a midnight breakfast every semester.

“It was a huge success each time,” said Morrell. “My idea is for it to become a tradition that students, faculty and staff look forward to at the close of each semester. It is a great way to build community here at Fairfield.”

Each volunteer who is serving will be wearing an apron with the logo for the event on it, as well as a pin stating their name and that they are volunteering at the Fall 2002 Midnight Breakfast. It is supposed to be a chance for students, faculty and staff to interact while taking a study break during finals.

According to Molly Martin, another Fairfield University Graduate Assistant, the Midnight Breakfast is a great opportunity for students to take a break from the craziness of finals week.

“The Breakfast can be a place for students to escape from studying, hang out with friends, or a change of atmosphere,” said Martin.

Karen Donoghue, ’03, FUSA president, agreed that this is a great idea.

“I can’t see students passing up the opportunity for free food, served by their very own teachers,” Donoghue said. “I hope that it is a big success and that we continue it every semester.”

So how does the idea fare with students?

“I think a lot of students will show up, especially if the teachers are going to be serving us breakfast,” said Miguel Delgado, ’04.

Pat Hogan, ’04 had a slightly different perspective. “Free food and teachers, will this be on the test?”
