As the Christmas preparation time is coming closer and closer to an end, most people are probably stressing over what gifts to purchase for their loved ones. Well, nothing says ‘I love you’ more than a pair of tickets to one of this year’s winter concerts.
The biggest holiday concert going down has got to be New York-based radio station Z100’s Jingle Ball, the annual Christmas concert, featuring some of the biggest acts of the past year. This year, the show, which is being held at the famous Madison Square Garden in Manhattan, has an all-star lineup including Avril Lavigne, the Backstreet Boys, Fall Out Boy, Alicia Keys, Timbaland and a bunch more. With tickets for the Dec. 14 show costing well over $100, getting your significant other a pair should almost guarantee you some action. You’ll probably have her screaming louder than the Fall Out Boy fans that night.
Too cool for Jingle Ball? Still living in the ’90s? I would recommend picking up tickets for the Public Enemy concert on Dec. 19 at Irving Plaza in Manhattan. Yeah, I didn’t know they were still around either. And yeah, I also forgot that Flava Flav is really a rapper, not a reality television star.
Nevertheless, these has-beens (yeah, I said it) are coming to town in time for Christmas, which is perfect for all five Public Enemy fans on this campus. Nothing says “fight the power” more than charging your fans $35+ for a ticket.
It doesn’t matter what kind of musical preference you have, everyone is guaranteed a good time at a Trans Siberian Orchestra concert. For those of you who don’t recognize the name, Trans Siberian Orchestra is a rock orchestra known for its many renditions of Christmas tunes.
After all, the only thing that can make “O Holy Night” any more perfect is a five-minute guitar solo straight out of a Metallica album. The Trans Siberian Orchestra is going to be all over the Tri-State Area from now until Dec. 15, so act now on getting those tickets before it’s too late.
Not a fan of Christmas concerts or the holiday season?
Well, I am sorry to say it, but you have no soul. Have no fear, another popular holiday is also right around the corner this winter break: New Year’s Eve. And don’t worry, there are plenty of New Year’s Eve festivities happening for you to attend.
Are you an emo loser like me? Well then watch the ball drop with the band Thursday at the Starland Ballroom in New Jersey.
Still listen to hair metal? The boys of Velvet Revolver are calling your name to come party it up in New York City’s Hammerstein Ballroom. Right across the street from Hammerstein, Chris Rock is going to be insulting his audience members as they sit in Madison Square Garden, mulling over all those new year’s resolutions that they will soon break.
If you were looking forward to hitting up a concert over this nice, month-long break we have coming up, you now have a nice, lengthy list to choose from. But whatever show you choose to attend, there’s no doubt that you’ll have an awesome holiday season.
