The invasion of campus bands continued when JonnieProud performed Saturday in the Barone Campus Center. Their opening act was Mike Davis ’08.

JonnieProud is a group that started with Mike Falzone ’06 and then Chris Pastore ’06 playing the bass, Steve Sennett ’06 playing the sax, Steve Tyburski ’06 on the drums, and Tim O’Conner ’05 as guitarist were added to become the group we now know to be JonnieProud.

JonnieProud has played at many of the establishments in Fairfield and the university itself multiple times. Their most notable turns came during the two Great Campus Drinkouts, which also took place in Barone.

Falzone, frontman of JonnieProud, said that playing at Fairfield was fun because the crowd was different than at other shows.

Amy Sulzman said, “The concert was amazing. They’ve progressed so much in the past year, changing their style completely. They’ve brought together a bunch of different sounds – adding in the bongo and sax that has really created a new and different sound.”

Davis has been playing guitar for 10 years and writing songs for the last five years. He recently became serious about his music career. He has played with the band on multiple occasions.

“Mike’s performances are so entertaining and has this great sound to back it up,” said Lauren Satos ’06.

“He’s going to be the next big thing on campus – just you wait and see,” she added.

“[Mike] writes about things that are very personal, both happy and sad, and I think that it really helps the listener to identify with his reality.” Wendy Scola ’07 said. “He’s very good at expressing himself and is a very intricate and complex musician who works very hard at what he does.”

You can still find JonnieProud’s CD Live at Stagstock online and in the Fairfield University bookstore. The disc has five songs that were recorded live at Stagstock this past September.

There is a new release coming out called “Two Proud.” The disc will feature only Falzone and O’Conner. The duo will be billed as “Grand Theft Motto” for their side project.

For the upcoming release there are already four songs online that can be found at http://www. myspace.com/GrandTheftMotto. Amy Sulzman says, “I’d look for some strong new lyrics from Mike Falzone and some crazy guitar work by Tim O’Conner.”
