Any returning student to Fairfield this fall knows that if they don’t wish to look forward to the headaches of move-in day, readjusting to the food in Barone, or trying to remember the room number in Canisius where your English class is, there’s always the University Clubs and Organizations Activities Fair.

In its usual spot in both the Oak Room and Oak Room Patio, the Activities Fair is a staple event in the sequence of being reacquainted to Fairfield. The event, held this year on Friday, Sept. 5, is filled with wide-eyed freshmen, over-zealous club presidents and upperclassmen in attendance simply for the free food and prizes.

There were seemingly over 50 clubs and organizations represented, from the usual suspects like FUSA, IRHA, and Campus Ministry, to lesser known but equally as important organizations such as Colleges Against Cancer and the Investment Club.’

Even recent Fairfield graduate and former two-term FUSA president Hutch Williams ’08 was in attendance, a welcome sight to any upperclassman in attendance.’
The fair had a hectic feel to it, as many club representatives chose to campaign loudly and boisterously for signatures and signers.

‘From what I could see, the Glee Club and the Orientation Board were the most enthusiastic groups there,” said Tom Barrabi ’11.

With the enthusiasm express this year, it seems that all the clubs and organizations on campus will be stepping it up from year to year in hopes that they will gain the credibility to be considered one of the giants on campus.

As for the new students on campus, now is your chance to make your place at Fairfield.
