Matrix Reloaded

Perhaps the most highly anticipated movie this year, Matrix Reloaded hits theatres May 15. Keanu Reeves and Laurence Fishburm return in this long-awaited sequel. The plot is pretty hush-hush (I’m not sure why they bother to keep it a secret-I saw the first one and still wasn’t sure what it was about). It looks like Neo (Reeves) will have to launch a final battle pitting the last unplugged humans against the machines after the machines find the last human city, Zion, in the Earth’s core. The movie should be fast and furious with a cliffhanger ending that paves the way for the the third and final installment, The Matrix Revolutions, due in November.

The Hulk

What do you get when you take a mere mortal and add gamma radiation, fiery fury and all the purple shorts you can rip to shreads? No, not my high school prom date (though you are astoundingly close…), I’m talking about The Incredible Hulk! Ol’ Green Eyes’ story comes to life this summer in a cast starring Eric Bana, Jennifer Connelly, Sam Elliott and Nick Nolte. The Hulk tells the story of Dr. Bruce Banner who through an accident with his scientific experiments is exposed to unstable gamma radiation. Instead of killing him, he gains monsterous superstrength and invulnerability … and a fiery, violent personality that would make even Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde blush, leaving poor Dr. Banner to try and control this monster within. Out in theatres June 20th.

Daddy Day Care

Eddie Murphy’s Daddy Day Care, which opens this Friday. Day Care is the story of ad executives Charlie (Murphy) and Phil (Jeff Garlin) who get fired from their jobs, only to realize how much their jobs have deprived them of spending time with their children. So instead of going back into the “real” world, they start their own day care center and learn the hard way that kids can be just as big of a challenge as a room full of boardmembers.

Bruce Almighty

If I were God, who else would I choose to endow with my powers? Certainly Jim Carrey’s rubbery face of his makes him worthy enough. But I guess I shouldn’t challenge God on this. As a matter of fact, you shouldn’t challenge God on anything – at least that’s the lesson it looks like Carrey will learn in Bruce Almighty. The film stars Carrey, Jennifer Aniston, and Morgan Freeman (seriously, who else?) as God himself. Almighty tells the story of reporter Bruce Nolan, a man perpetually dissatisfied with everything in his life, despite how good it really is. He finally gets so fed up that he goes on a rant telling God off. The twist? God hears him and grants him all his divine power, challenging him to do the job better. See it in theatres May 23.
