Many of you by now have already found out about Day One through the interview I did with them for this week’s issue. However, as interesting as an interview can be, the music is just as important as the people behind it. In this particular case, there’s nothing to be worried about.

Day One’s music is not something that would normally be found in music today, but their music shouldn’t be ignored. Their latest CD, “Dare to Dream,” is filled with inspirational tunes that offer everything from remakes of classics, revised hits that take on an inspirational tone, to originals that get people motivated.

Some of the better tracks on the CD are the faithful interpretations of classics. “Love is Alive,” a remake of the classic song, keeps its classic groove and feeling. But this time the lead is sung by a female, which adds to its power. The male vs. female power can also be seen on the 1997 3rd Party dance remake of it – it just boosts the song’s energy.

Another great rerecording is the Brian McKnight song “Win,” which is a beautiful ballad handled on this album. This is one of the many songs which shows the group’s singing capabilities.

Some of the songs on this CD are designed specifically for a business that they’re involved in and perform for on a regular basis. So while their handling of the Chumbawamba song “Tubthumper” might not appeal to everyone, there are still plenty of tracks on the CD.

As they said during the interview, a more general motivational CD is in the works for a summer release. But if you’re looking for something more inspiring than the latest Ludacris CD, you can’t go wrong with their latest CD, “Dare to Dream.”

And, if you’re looking for something with a more religious tone, their previous CD, “Day One,” will fit the bill for you. This is clearly a band who can balance different types of music capably, and the quality of their independently released CDs are higher than average.
