Walking into the Webster Theater on Saturday night, I had no idea what to expect from the notorious Steve-O, member of Jackass and Wild Boyz. I had heard rumors that it was essentially a modern freak show, and within the first five minutes, those rumors were confirmed.

Steve-O began his performance by walking on stage with pants that hung way too low (and unfortunately failed to remain on), his trademark goofy grin, and four cans of Guinness. One by one he bashed the beer cans against his head and doused the audience while rocking to hardcore music in the background. Luckily, it’s hard to find a bad seat in the Webster, so I was able to enjoy the rest of this spectacle from a safe distance.

Highlights from the show included Steve-O’s patented “Tequila Shot” which involves snorting a large quantity of salt, guzzling copious amounts of tequila, and topping it all off by squeezing two limes in his eyes. Try that one at your next party; I hear the ladies love a guy willing to take risks like that.

By the way, the only way to stop the burning is to have someone spit directly into your eye, at least according to Steve-O. His relief was provided by none other than Manny from Wild Boyz, and after he spit in Steve-O’s eyes he vomited on stage.

The “Don’t Try This at Home Tour 2004” provides Steve-O and his buddies a forum to do whatever they desire, and believe me they take full advantage of this. By the end of the night, Steve-O had discharged three different bodily fluids on stage (I’ll let you take a guess so I don’t spoil any surprises or appetites). The show seems to appeal to a limited number of people, but if you like seeing someone balance knives on their nose, kick others in their groins, and staple body parts together, then this show is for you.
