Voting turnout in elections lowest in 14 years

Due to the recount, this year's FUSA elections have been the talk of campus this past week. However, the fact that Fairfield University voter turnout this February was the lowest it's been in fourteen years is just as notable. A total of 974 students exercised their right to vote, 251 fewer than the yearly average of 1,224 since 1989*.

More money, more problems: Fairfield spends most in athletics

Considering that wealth and prestige are not new concepts at Fairfield, would it be surprising that the university has the wealthiest institutional and athletic budgets amongst Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) schools? According to the 2001-2002 Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act (EADA), Fairfield spent $8,241,475 on athletics last year.

You will notice an inflammatory adjective, one that begins with the letter "f," prominently placed in our coverage of the Student Beach Residents Association's 200 Nights. The use of this word was not an easy decision for the editors of this newspaper. What was a certainty, however, is that this quote in some form needed to be included.

One more Iraqi war is one big mistake

The Bush administration has publicly interpreted the recent United Nations resolution as authorizing the use of force should Iraq fail to comply with weapons inspections. George W. CD REVIEW: Nas rules the rap world

If you are a true fan of the art of rap, go buy Nas' The Lost Tapes now. If you are merely enamored with the flashy samples and stale lyrics that are dominating rap right now, however, you probably will not like this album. The fact of the matter is that The Lost Tapes is the best rap album to come out this year, and will probably be the best rap album to come out for quite a long time.

MOVIE REVIEW: Eminem goes the distance
