College students sued; Fairfield considers its options

The Recording Industry Association of America sued another 532 people last week, including college students. Eighty-nine students from 21 different colleges were included in the latest batch of law suits. Contract of Prof. Court not renewed

According to Visiting Professor Russell Court of the history department, Fairfield has decided not to renew his year-to-year contract without notifying him or providing any explanation. However, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences Timothy Snyder said the university has not finalized all decisions concerning next year.

Massive search results in two visiting professor promotions

Visiting professors Dr. Peter Bayers of the English department and Jocelyn Boryczka of the politics department have been hired as full-time professors as Fairfield's yearlong search for eight more continues. According to Timothy Snyder, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, the university relies more than it would like on adjuncts, which make up one-third of the faculty.

Former Fairfield president dies

The Rev. Thomas R. Fitzgerald , S.J., a former Fairfield University president, died Washington, D.C. at the age of 82 on Monday. Fitzgerald, the sixth president of the university, died from myocardial infarction at the Wolfington Jesuit Residence at Georgetown University where he retired to in 1999.

RA applicants must choose housing before job selection

Applications, interviews and group meetings are not the only worries for aspiring resident assistants. They may also wonder whether they will enjoy the perks of upperclassmen housing. Rising juniors and seniors who applied to be RAs will not be notified if they received the job until after all housing lotteries for those grades.

Punishment for being written up being reconsidered
