FACE AIDS Brings “Greatest Icon” to Fairfield and Students Fail to Show Up

I would like to begin by thanking all the great faculty members, students and administrators who worked diligently to make hosting the National FACE AIDS Conference a reality for Fairfield University. Fairfield won the bid to host because of the success of our chapter, the World AIDS week initiative, and the close relationships that our students share with faculty and administrators.

Affirmative Action: Good Idea, Poor Implementation

Few topics in recent memory have had such a polarizing effect on the American public as affirmative action. Being in favor of affirmative action immediately labels you a liberal, while any opposition makes you a conservative and possibly even a racist. Instead of standing at extremes on the issue, like Americans normally love to do, it would be smarter to admit that affirmative action is a good idea that isn't properly implemented.

To the Editor: Does Ms. Phan know anything about FUSA or Fairfield besides how to drink and make a fool of her journalistic abilities? What she fails to realize is that yes, voting makes a difference, even to the seniors. The FUSA presidents in the last three years have been very different and led various campaigns.
