Editor's note: This weekend, Campus Life decided to put reporter Carleigh Brower's thriftiness to the test. The challenge: scout out cheap dates in Fairfield with a budget of $20 per date. Couplehood in Fairfield can get pretty pricey, so I was skeptical that my boyfriend and I would actually find somewhere cheap to go besides Nutmeg Lanes.

I had to go to Los Angeles to try out for Star-Search-anonymous student. Excuses, excuses, as college students we're full of them, but the question is-are we good at them? The good old days of high school when your mom would just call you in sick are long gone and you are now faced with a new problem: you're lazy and there's one thing standing in the way of you and "Real World" reruns-you've got class.

Time for the leaves to turn

The time has come to put away your reefs, bring home your jean skirts, say goodbye to your plaid shorts and Lilly Pulitzer skirts, and throw on a nice pair of jeans and a comfy sweater or turtleneck because it's actually starting to feel like fall. I don't know when it happened, I guess it was sometime between Stagstock and the keg races, but fall has come.

Sweaty palms? Nervous movement? Uncertainty? Please... If there are any guys who are asking the question of who should make the first move, you should seriously consider a sex change. It is our job and duty to initiate. I mean, it is most likely the case that she has no interest in you whatsoever anyway, so why not give it a try.

All access pass to campus crime logs

Universities throughout the country have been battling against students who claim the rights to access university police logs. At Faifield, such students face less hurdles than those at other colleges. Student journalists at Harvard University are currently in the process of a lawsuit against their own Harvard University Police Department.

FU prof. joins Iraq debate

With tensions in the Middle East increasing and U.S. intervention in Iraq seeming more inevitable every day, a Fairfield professor has joined the national debate by speaking out in criticism of U.S. foreign policy with respect to Iraq. Philosophy professor Joy Gordon's article in Harper's is entitled, "Cool War: Economic sanctions as a weapon of mass destruction.
