Students will spend approximately 50 hours in required core classes during their four years at Fairfield, a requirement many students complain is too extensive, too time consuming and too irrelevant to their interests. When it comes to this huge component of the curriculum, there is no shortage of student opinion, many of which seems in favor of change.

Last year 23 students, including 15 freshmen, were sent to the Health Center or hospitalized during the first two weeks of school. This year, it took only one week for 23 freshmen to make the same trip.

For several weeks, the sign reading "closed for renovations" that hung outside the Seagrape, spelled bitter disappointment and some confusion for many members of the senior class. Over the year, this popular bar has become the standard party-spot for beach-dwelling seniors, whether for the purpose of drinking another night away or to finding out where the late-night party would be held afterward.

This year another blow was made to the ever-shrinking list of senior traditions: the cancellation of 200 Nights. In years past, 200 Nights was an annual school-sponsored event for seniors to celebrate the countdown until graduation. However, the heavy drinking that was involved provoked administration to pull the plug on this once eagerly-anticipated party, ensuring that 200 Nights will join ranks of Clam Jam, Keg Races, and Mock-Wedding as mere memories of Fairfield's distant glory days.

Joe's may seem impressive at first (especially after a few meals at Barone's cafeteria), but after becoming familiar with Fairfield County, it is clear that there are many other options that offer better tasting foods at similar prices.

With diplomas in hand, college grads across the nation are flocking to big cities in pursuit of glamorous jobs and an exciting culture. Almost all of America's big cities have increased their population of college graduates over the past 30 years, even though most of their overall populations have decreased, according to a study by the Associated Press.

Last weekend's weather, which reached 60 degree highs, lured students outside to enjoy the beginning days of spring. For many students, this meant that barbeques and the beach replaced books and the library. There is nothing quite like springtime at Fairfield University.
