Women’s, men’s tennis teams off on right foot in MAAC

Fairfield's only reigning conference champion issued a statement Saturday afternoon in its MAAC opener: This is their league until someone takes it from them. The women's tennis team beat St. Peter's 6-1 and improved to 5-8 overall. The Stags' 2003-04 season was the best showing by a women's tennis team in the school's history.

More arrests in Fisher case

Two men have been arrested and charged with intimidating a witness in the investigation of the murder of former Fairfield student Mark Fisher. Thomas Saleh, 22, and James Petrillo, 21, were both arrested Thursday night, according to the New York Times. The two allegedly met with a witness in the case and made references to an episode of "The Sopranos" in which a witness who cooperated with the police was killed, said assistant district attorney Anna-Sigga Nicolazzi.

Director of Career Planning resigns: Interim named

by Kelly Sheehan Student concerns have risen after Director of Career Planning Michael Dalton resigned at the end of December. "As a sophomore now, I'm pretty sure I'll be stopping by the center next year," said Chris Martin '07. "It makes me a little nervous that they have lost the director, because I know that I will need help finding internships next year, and a job during my senior year.

According to the National Sleep Foundation, 63 percent of college students aren't getting enough sleep. Heavy workloads, jobs, poor time management, partying, living with others and early classes all seem to contribute to this predicament.

Fairfield students pitch in for good cause

by Christina Stoddard Over 450 Fairfield University students took a shot at community service instead of taking shots at parties this past weekend. Sunday morning, 376 students woke up early and boarded buses heading towards Sherwood Island State Park to take part in the American Breast Cancer Society's annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk.
