WOMEN’S TENNIS: Stags chasing Greyhounds

Facing its second season under the wings of head coach Jeff Wyshner, the women's tennis team wants to show that the second place finish in the MAAC Tournament last year was far from a fluke. The Stags had a discouraging eighth place finish in the 2001 MAAC Tournament, but showed a promising future last season as they fell 6-1 to Loyola in the finals.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL: Injuries put damper on Stags’ season

Two major goals set by the women's basketball team in preseason were to improve upon last year's 13-17 record and to contend for the MAAC championship. Neither one was accomplished. The Stags finished their season with a 12-17 record and were knocked out in the second round of the conference tournament by Niagara 76-65.

SOFTBALL: Opening pitch

The women's softball team is starting off on the right foot this season with a winning record (10-7), dramatic victories in Florida, and sweeping its first double-header against MAAC competition this season. Fairfield beat St. Peters in a double header this past Monday by scores of 10-3 and 4-3.

MAAC MADNESS: No. 6 women face Rider in 1st round

March Madness is in the air, and the women's basketball team would like to be a part of. To do so they must win the MAAC championships, which will be played in Trenton, NJ this weekend. The Stags, ranked sixth, will see first round action against ninth seeded Rider.

LETTER: Vandals apologize to community

To the Editor: On January 27, as some of you may know, a few Fairfield University students were arrested in connection with vandalism near campus. We are those students and we would like to take this time to apologize for our actions. We love the town of Fairfield and everything it has to offer.
