Class cancellation cuts it close

By Monday morning on Feb. 3, snow had begun to laminate campus. As weather conditions started to worsen, students began to wonder whether or not classes were going to be canceled. At 1:54 p.m., students and faculty received notice via StagAlert that all classes beginning at or after 2:00 p.m. were canceled.

Crime Beat January 28-February 2

Sunday 2/2 1:47 p.m. – DPS responded to a complaint of a non-authorized pet in a residence of the Townhouses 5 block. It was discovered that the pet, a rabbit, was being served alcoholic beverages. “Upon response, officers determined the animal had bloodshot eyes.” The animal has been released to the custody of the area coordinator, and the students responsible have been referred to student conduct.

Crime Beat January 17-25

Friday, 1/17 7:41 p.m. - DPS discovered three male youths smoking marijuana in a vehicle in the Fairfield Prep parking lot. One student was cited by Fairfield Police; all were referred to Prep Dean of Students and their parents were notified.

Fairfield honors patron St. Bellarmine

Students, faculty and many members of Fairfield’s Jesuit community gathered outside the DiMenna-Nyselius Library on Tuesday, Jan. 28, to dedicate a new bronze statue to St. Robert Bellarmine, the patron saint of Fairfield University.

DPS, Admin. and FPD push for campus drop off

The Office of the Dean of Students, Fairfield Police and the Department of Public Safety have all received numerous complaints from students and campus neighbors about general misconduct regarding taxis.

Crime Beat December 4-9

Wednesday, 12/4 6:14 a.m. - DPS witnessed a person deploy a road flare while hanging out of the window of a vehicle going the wrong way on a one-way road near Townhouses 10 block. The driver of the vehicle was previously issued a criminal trespass warning and was arrested for trespassing.

Wednesday, 11/20 7:26 p.m. - The odor of marijuana led DPS to discover a small amount of suspected marijuana and paraphernalia in Jogues Hall. The student was cited by Fairfield Police and referred to student conduct.

World famous aerial cinematographer Al Cerullo payed a special visit to Fairfield this past weekend, donating his time and services by taking breathtaking aerial photographs and video of the Town of Fairfield, Fairfield University and Fairfield Beach, from the cineflex camera mounted to his AS355 TwinStar helicopter.

Freshmen strive to bring Greek life to FU

Over the past two weeks, Nick Ferry ‘17 and Matthew Peacock ‘17 have been working together to gather support from classmates and the administration to start Greek life at Fairfield. After agreeing that Fairfield lacks in school spirit, Ferry and Peacock decided they would try to improve the university by giving Greek life a home at Fairfield.
