The town of Fairfield became a big red star on the map of the nation's best hot dog joints when Super Duper Weenie (SWD) was ranked on USA Today's and Gourmet Magazine's Top 10 lists. And this spring, the same nationally acclaimed hot dogs will be available on the Fairfield University campus.

Most Fairfield students do not know what a trustee is. "It sounds like a bunch of people sitting in a room with chandeliers eating Brie cheese," said Tom Meehan '06. Fairfield University recently announced a group of five new and diversely talented trustees: two Jesuits, two alumni and a corporate executive.

While most students look forward to going home for a break at the end of the semester, "going home" has much different connotations for 52 visiting students and a professor at Fairfield who were displaced from their New Orleans schools as the result of Hurricane Katrina.

Alcohol. Drugs. Financial Stress. Homesickness. Athletic teams gone. Problems fitting in. These are all reasons students transfer or fail out of Fairfield University. Nationally, 73.6 percent of freshmen stay at the four-year colleges they enrolled in, according to the Web site of the Education Commission of the States.

In their last team matches this weekend, the women defeated Siena and Sacred Heart in record-setting fashion, and the men fell hard to Iona Nov.

by Ryan Hull In a reoccurring trend for Fairfield athletics this fall, the top-seeded women's volleyball team was upset in the MAAC finals by second-seeded Siena. Despite winning the regular season conference title, they will not earn a bid to the NCAA tournament.

by Ryan Hull Only moments had passed since losing 4-0 to Duke in the first round of the NCAA tournament, and members of the Fairfield women's soccer team gathered together with tears and disappointment over an ended season. But the feelings of defeat were quickly replaced with thoughts of accomplishment and satisfaction, and more importantly, optimistic outlooks of a promising future.

It's not as if they had anything left to prove, but finishing the MAAC undefeated certainly made a statement. Fairfield University's No. 24 men's soccer team took to upstate New York this past weekend for its final two games of the regular season against Marist College on Friday and Siena on Sunday.

Women may be at fault for their fashion choices, but gentlemen, you too have not made the best wardrobe ventures. Yes, it's college; life is extremely casual, but don't let this be the basis for your daily attire. Here are just a few words of advice… (1) Stop looking like a giant bruise! Not everything goes with black, especially navy blue.
