Rowing on its way on up

As one of the newest club sports at Fairfield, the men's crew team looks to it's novice squad as future leaders and as a possible foundation for a competitve program. This year's team is led by tri-captains, Jeff Dunn, '05, Brian Labelle, '05 and Frank Marx, 04'.

The men's basketball program is currently under investigation for alleged NCAA violations. Hopefully, they will come out clean and continue their quest for an NCAA berth. Last year men's coach Tim O'Toole had this to say: "We have an unbelievably tough time getting games.

When was the last time you heard a Fairfield athlete turn down an alcoholic beverage? Chances are, not recently. However, if you offered a drink to a Fairfield athlete 24 hours before a competition, the answer is most likely no thanks. All athletes at Fairfield are required to abide by the 24-hour rule.

NCAA INVESTIGATION: Witness tampering alleged

The investigation into the Fairfield University men's basketball program by one of the premiere NCAA law firms in the nation continued as students filed in for classes last week. But that investigation, which commenced August 6, took a new turn this Sunday when a report in the Connecticut Post alleged witness tampering on behalf of former University of Nevada-Las Vegas coach Bill Bayno.

Plenty of seats available

Faced by thousands of empty seats for every women's basketball games the last two years, Director of Athletics Eugene Doris considered moving the program's games from the Arena at Harbor Yard back to Alumni Hall. "I think there could have been some better attended games this year," said Doris.

Athletes honored at annual banquet

The Fairfield Athletic Department held its annual awards banquet on Sunday to celebrate a successful athletic year and to honor the achievements of individual athletes. Every student athlete was invited to the dinner to receive an award for their participation and efforts.
