Facing a critical weekend, Stags softball faced doubleheaders against Providence College and Iona College.

This is a campus on which the significance of the names Downing (sophomore lacrosse midfielder Greg) and Bocklet (teammate Mike) are rapidly approaching that of Jordan (you know who he is) and Pippen. But although that tandem of young Stags is storming into the national spotlight, another tag-team of even younger Stags is making some noise as well: freshmen softball players Julia Jacoby and Erin Frank, who, at week's end, were both among the leading performers on a team that has won 10 of its last 11 before dropping a pair of games last weekend to Manhattan.

by Christina Stoddard The women's softball team shone just as brightly as the sun under which they played as they swept St. Peter's College complete with two homeruns to continue their five-game winning streak on Sunday afternoon. The Stags now stand 9-6 overall.

The softball team was in North Carolina this weekend to attend the North Carolina State Wolfpack Challenge. On Saturday, the team lost its first match 7-6 against Western Illinois. They followed up the loss, however, with a 4-3 win over the University of Akron.
