I was perfectly content with the bookstore in the BCC. I actually really loved it. Whenever I get a bad grade on a paper or test, I’d stroll through the bookstore and buy myself a new sweatshirt that I could cry into the sleeves of. It’s even conveniently placed right next to the ATM.

Even though I love the location of the regular bookstore, I wasn’t even too bothered by the fact that we were going to get to have another one in town. I was happy that it would fill the void that Borders left. Being an English major and all, I love being around books, and people that love them too. So right about now, you’re probably wondering what I’m going to complain about since that is what we are here to do.

Yesterday, I received an email that really gave me something to complain about. I opened up an email that had the subject line filled with something like, “New StagBus Route.” I thought they were adding a Trumbull Mall bus to the Friday bus schedule or something. I obviously had my expectations a little too high for the Fairfield shuttle system. Plus, if they added another shuttle to the mall on Fridays, I’d probably deplete myself of all of my funds anyway, so it’s probably better off for both parties.

Anyway, the email stated that the shuttle will now be running every forty-five minutes into town, and that they now make their first run at 11:15 a.m. The early start is fine, but seriously, every 45 minutes? You’ve gotta be kidding me. It’s a hassle and a half now just to run into town to pick up something from CVS. Now I need to wander the store for even longer than I usually do, just to wait for the bus some more? I don’t even think it’s completely necessary to have the shuttle stop at the new bookstore. If it was possible for us to walk to Chef’s Table from the Library bus stop, I think we’re perfectly capable to getting ourselves to the bookstore, which is even CLOSER.

Now I need to remember obscure times. The bus now comes at… 2:15 p.m.? It was so much easier to remember when it was every half hour. Come on Fairfield, you’re going to make me do even more work than I’m already doing. What a wet-blanket. I’ve already missed the shuttle twice in a row because the new times keep messing me up, plus the changing of the clocks…too much time changing for one weekend.

Just when the StagBus was making my life a little easier, they let me down again. I was so excited to find out that they extended the hours to 10 p.m. on weeknights. Yeah, freshman, the Stag Bus used to do its final run at 7 p.m which meant there was no such thing as having a normal dinner in town. I’m happy they fixed that mess. But now, 45 minutes?! I could be doing so many other things with those fifteen minutes that are now being added to the route, like getting to class on time. Next time you’re late to class, just blame it on the shuttle system, maybe they’ll revert to their old, 30-minute ways. The love I lost for the Stag Bus…
