Four years of a substance-fueled social life will inevitably lead to some regrettable behavior. You’ll probably say a few things you wouldn’t say if you were sober, but like the saying goes “a drunk man’s words are a sober man’s thoughts,” so maybe you were really just being honest.

Then again, honesty is probably not the best policy as you’re getting your head kicked in the next time you get poop-faced at a bar and tell some steroid-ridden meathead that you think the reason he works out so much is to compensate for other “lacking areas.”

Often times, consuming the last alcoholic beverages at the end of the night tends to be a bad decision, it could be the defining factor in whether or not you make it home in one piece. Gentlemen, those last few sodas could put you over the shoulder of a behemoth Cro-Magnon woman, helplessly being dragged home to your bed.

Still, some of you may be into that type of thing and need further convincing that those extra drinks are regrettable in the long run. However, I ask you to simply lift up your shirt and gaze upon the mound of flab accumulating around your waistline. You’ll be regretting the extra pounds when even your cave women companions start turning you down.

Regrettable actions are inherent in the life of typical college students; nevertheless they may serve an educational purpose. A great philosopher by the name of Jay-Z once said, “In order to survive, you gotta learn to live with regrets.”

Some of you may think it’s funny to take advice from a rapper, but let me remind you, this is a man that owns the New Jersey Nets and has the privilege of sleeping with Beyonce every night, which pretty much gives him instant credibility in every man’s eyes. Jay-Z’s message reveals the sobering reality that life is full of regrets, so don’t waste time harping on them. The quicker we learn to deal with the fact that every decision we make could potentially be one we regret, the quicker we can get back to enjoying ourselves.
