Timothy Law Snyder, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, announced Thursday that he has accepted the position of vice president for academic affairs for Loyola College in Maryland.

Snyder has been at Fairfield for six years, serving as both a dean and as a professor of mathematics and computer science, will begin his new position at Loyola in July.

“I’ve accomplished a lot [at Fairfield] and it’s been wonderful,” said Snyder. “It’s bittersweet because I have to leave good people, good friends, good colleagues, good students.”

At Loyola Snyder will oversee both the undergraduate and graduate programs, as well as serving as a member of the President’s cabinet.

“It’s [Loyola College in Maryland] is known for an outstanding faculty that, like ours [Fairfield University’s], balances education and scholarship well,” Snyder said.

A replacement for his position at Fairfield has not yet been announced.
