The Department of Public Safety received information that an alleged sexual assault occurred in a residential hall over the weekend.
A person not directly involved in the incident recently made an unofficial report to DPS, said Assistant Director of Public Safety John Ritchie. He believes the report was made in “good faith.”
“We’re hopeful the individual involved makes the complaint, but we will support the decision of the individual regardless,” he said.
DPS could not disclose the nature of the sexual assault. “We are waiting for an official complaint for us to investigate further,” Ritchie said. “ … As a response to the information received, we thought it would be best to inform the community of the potential risk.”
