A University Message sent out today states:

Fairfield University’s Health Center, in following State of Connecticut directives, is now able to expand its offering of the H1N1 vaccine to students and employees who are:

1. 64 years old or less with underlying medical conditions (inactivated, injectable vaccine)

2. Healthy individuals through age 24 years old (LAIV nasal spray vaccine)

*Medical conditions that confer a higher risk for influenza-related complications include chronic pulmonary (including asthma), cardiovascular (except hypertension), renal, hepatic, cognitive, neurologic/neuromuscular, hematologic, or metabolic disorders (including diabetes mellitus) and immunosuppression (including immunosuppression caused by medications or by human immunodeficiency virus).

If you do not fall within the above priority group, you are NOT eligible to be vaccinated at this time.

To determine eligibility to receive this vaccine, please review the vaccine screening questions before calling the Health Center with questions. Those Fairfield University students and employees who are eligible to receive the vaccine should call the Health Center to schedule an appointment at (203) 254-4196. There is no charge for this vaccine.
