Mike’s Pizza was supposed to open at the Levee two weeks ago, but eager students have had to do without.

“I thought it was definitely supposed to be open,” said Katie Finn ’05. “It would be nice if it were open.”

The pizza place has been delayed opening at the Levee but the plans are still in the works amidst several unforeseen problems.

“A lot of work has already been done,” said Bill Bordak, manager of the Levee. “Someone from Mike’s is there almost every day. Progress is being made.”

They are in the last phase and are working to schedule final health and fire inspections.

There have also been some issues with getting permits from the town of Fairfield, which Bordak said has taken longer than expected.

“All the equipment from Mike’s is already over there,” said Steve Luttge, assistant director of student activities. “Most likely, barring any other unanticipated problems, it will be opening the week after Easter.”

“We want to have a grand opening event, so it’ll be a lot easier to have a couple weeks to prepare,” he said.
