To the Editor:

As a beach area resident I wish to address several points of Ms. Lynch’s “injunction” against myself and my fellow residents.

I don’t have a ride on mower, landscaper, snotty kids, nanny, failing marriage nor a high powered job. I do have a walk behind mower, an adorable daughter, beautiful wife and a successful business.

I cannot accommodate your request for lawn care after 12 p.m. TNT runs a Matlock marathon in the afternoon that I simply have to watch.

You pissing on my lawn is not a huge issue, just about every other dog in the neighborhood does also.

My daughter is not old enough to wander in the streets on her own yet. You and all your friends are setting a fine example though.

I apologize if the streets and yards are cluttered with toys, bicycles and balls. I’ll get to that after I pick up all the red cups.

I don’t think “older” Fairfield beach residents are “watching” you. It’s the beach area, everyone watches everyone. Get over yourself.

I do recall attending college, Fairfield University, and I did reside at the beach. However, I did not piss on my neighbor’s lawn, litter, sell weed, fight with police officers, play on fire trucks that are in service, keep loaded weapons in the house and the umpteen other idiotic incidents I read about in the paper on a weekly basis.

So keep on playing “Beirut” or whatever the drinking game of the moment is and have a good time. I honestly don’t care. However if your actions inhibit me, my family and my neighbors from the peaceful enjoyment of our lives then you’ll have a problem.

Oh yeah, kudos to the editor, nice picture of the ex-Fairfield U. student flipping the bird, way to keep on espousing those Jesuit values.

Sincerely,

Edward J. Bateson III ’86

Beach resident
