Ms. Grant missed the point of my article. To begin, it appeared in the Commentary section, and is therefore my opinion. The fact that Ms. Grant feels disappointed about my views is unfortunate given her position, but I was merely commenting on my experience with the concert bookings over the past four years.

My conclusion that The Roots might not come through was partly sarcastic and partly supported by our history (hence my reference to Jimmy Eat World backing out on us). I made no “faulty assumption” about Fairfield getting a big name band because the past four years have been supportive of this statement.

Ms. Grant noted that I “did not fully understand and fully investigate” the matter. Opinions aren’t investigated, they are formed. I do not believe FUSA has made good decisions, and that they could still do better. It’s not that I don’t know the process, it’s that I don’t think it produces good results. The statement about whether I am aware of the concert process or not, is completely irrelevant.

It is evident that Ms. Grant took offense to the frustration that I expressed about the job FUSA has done because she is a FUSA member and feels that my piece was a personal attack. I stand my ground in saying that I have been disappointed by the job FUSA has done collectively, but not her personally.
