According to Housing Operations, the idea of adding one extra person in each townhouse will help alleviate Fairfield’s housing woes.

However, the point of the matter is that the responsibility rests with the university for admitting too many students in the first place and the lack of foresight concerning the problems that would lie in the future. Just do the math, people.

Although this was an option for many juniors that were left out of the townhouses this year, it should remain that-an option. It wouldn’t be fair to ask the overwhelming number of juniors living in the residence halls this year to accomodate the university’s needs again in their senior year and live in this new housing arrangement.

Numerous juniors, including myself, have had to struggle through this year living in cramped living quarters and having to share a hall bathroom and common area space with often immature underclassmen.

Most of my classmates and I figured that if we toughed out this year it would get a lot better in our senior year.

However, living with two other people in a room that barely accommodates two people is not exactly something to look forward to for my senior year.

Why must we, the students, suffer for something we had no control over-and never thought would happen prior to agreeing to attend Fairfield?

Gary Stephenson, Director of Housing Operations, along with all the other university officials that have been involved, are making a valiant effort to solve this problem.

But, adding an extra person to every townhouse just isn’t the right answer.
