Men’s Lacrosse

The men’s lacrosse team finished a disappointing season on a high note Sunday with a 13-6 home win over St. John’s University. The team, which was once ranked No. 12 in the nation, finished the season 6-6 after dropping their previous six games. On a positive note, however, Greg Downing ’07 became just the fourth player in program history to score 100 career goals with two in the game. Mike Bocklet ’07 also scored two on Sunday, giving him a team leading 28 goals for the season.

Women’s Lacrosse

A 13-8 loss in the semi-finals to Siena ended the women’s lacrosse team’s season and sent the players home two days before they had hoped. Marist opened up the game with two goals before the Stags could score and never looked back. Despite attempting fewer shots, the Red Foxes were able to score five more goals than Fairfield and easily advance to the Finals. Marist would lose in overtime on Sunday, however, as Le Moyne took their second title in as many years.

Men’s Baseball

The Stags avoided a weekend sweep by shutting out Siena in the third game, 6-0. The Stags were led by starting pitcher Ed Kamintzky ’07 and Kevin Fico ’10 who combined to allow just five hits over nine innings of work. The win came at a perfect time for the Stags, who had dropped two games Saturday and seven of their last eight.

Men’s Golf

The Stags captured seventh place in the men’s golf MAAC tournament at Magnolia Golf Course at the Disney Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Fla. R.J. Zielinski ’09 led the Stags by shooting a third-day 74 and finished fifth in the tournament at +8. Fairfield finished 34 strokes behind first place Siena at +65 as a team.

Women’s Golf

The women’s golf team finished second in the MAAC tournament at the Magnolia Golf Course at the Disney Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Fla. Siena took the title with a three day team score of 976, over 50 strokes better than Fairfield’s score of 1,029. Courtney Richardson ’09 led the Stags with a low round of 82 and a total of 246, good for fourth overall.
