On Saturday, April 8th, the Fairfield University men’s lacrosse team suffered it’s fourth straight loss, and fell to 2-6 on the year, with a12-7 beating dished out by the Villanova Wildcats at Villanova Stadium.

Villanova grabbed an early 2-0 lead and stretched it to a 5-2 halftime advantage. Three third period goals in fewer than two minutes allowed the Wildcats to pull away from Fairfield.

The Stags did have some bright spots, as Rob Scipioni, Mark Beckwith and Spencer Steele continued their consistent offensive production on the year, as each of them recorded two goals on the day. Steele also added a pretty assist. Freshman goaltender C.J. Kemp stonewalled 11 shots in the cage for the Stags.

Fairfield looks to turn the 4-game losing streak around this Friday, at Alumni Field, when they take on the Ohio State Buckeyes. This will be the next-to-last home game for such senior standouts as Spencer Steele, D.J. Tobin, Mark Beckwith, Brian McLane, and Ryan McMurrer. These players, along with the rest of the seniors have accomplished a lot in their four years to advance the Stags lacrosse program to the national recognition it has reached today.

They deserve a good send off, so there should be a good student body turn out at these last two games.
