One year after Loyola beat the women’s soccer team in the MAAC semifinals, Fairfield earned the automatic NCAA tournament bid by beating the Greyhounds 3-0 in the MAAC Tournament championship game.

Senior Ahna Johnson, the MAAC Offensive Player of the Year, scored all three goals.

The title is the program’s seventh, but the first since 2005. The senior class won as freshmen in 2005, becoming the first No. 5 seed to win the MAAC Tournament. They now end their careers the same way they started it, as MAAC champions. Seniors Robyn Decker and Johnson were both named to the All-Tournament team.

Joining Johnson and Decker on the All-Tournament team were junior Adrienne Boyer and freshman goalkeeper Kelly Boudreau.

Johnson was also named the Tournament Most Valuable Player.

The first round of the NCAA Tournament will take place on Friday, Nov. 14. Fairfield’s opponent has yet to be determined. The game will be played at the host school.
