In today’s restaurant scene, it can often be hard to find simple, good and all-American food. Joe’s American Bar and Grill, located on 750 Post Road in Fairfield, can be a remedy to this culinary complication.
Joe’s says on its website that “Joe’s in Fairfield features classic American cuisine set in a casual and comfortable atmosphere, with a large open dining room and a cozy fireplace.” Joe’s has numerous locations, but their branch in Fairfield is as far as you need to travel.
Joe’s also has an extensive in-house bar that serves happy hour times on all weekdays. There are also two outdoor patios for diners when the weather is good.
When walking through the double doors, you are immersed in a large but cozy atmosphere with a lot of dark wood and comfortable seating set up. There are numerous pictures and historical memorabilia hung on the walls that give the place that distinctively “American” old school feel.
The staff is friendly and helpful to you as soon as you walk in the door. In addition to having this rustic American ambience, Joe’s has just the right amount of décor that gives the restaurant a feeling of completeness without being cluttered.
Oh, and the food is pretty impressive too. Joe’s has just what you would expect from a place that claims to be just as American as they do. Their menu is filled with an assortment of options that are classic, complete, and simple just like the aesthetics of the establishment.
There are burgers and fries, roasted chicken, fish, sandwiches, salads, pasta dishes, pizza, steaks, and of course desserts. The restaurant even has a special section of its menu that includes sides and brunch specials.
While it would be difficult to sample every single one of the great choices available at Joe’s, the sandwiches and burgers are a great place to start. Get your napkins ready.
The burgers are exceptional. First of all, they are actually a substantial portion of meat that is cooked to your liking and is artfully placed on your plate with your sides of fries and coleslaw. There are additional sides to choose from as well.
There are a number of variations to the types of burgers one can order, and there is also a multitude of sandwiches to choose from that are equally as satisfying. The club sandwich will fill you up just like the juicy burger and is a strong player in that area of American classics.
The dessert can be picked to your liking but the chocolate cake is definitely an opponent worth tackling. This is a great item to share and score some date points, but mostly because you probably wouldn’t want to finish it yourself.
As said, there are so many choices at Joe’s that it is hard to do justice to them all, but their extensive menu is well worth exploring in its entirety. Anything from the New York Strip to the seafood will be a good thing to check off ones must try food list.
Joe’s American Bar and Grill is an easy bus trip from Fairfield University. After eating a full portion at Joe’s though, you might want to think about walking back to school though.
Joe’s gets a great review here simply because they managed to keep it simple while still keeping it their food tasty and original. Stop by if you want to get a taste of classic American cuisine that won’t burn a hole in your wallet.
