The 2025 Grammy nominations have officially been unveiled, sparking excitement throughout the music industry. As the buzz builds, I have decided to dissect this year’s biggest hits and offer some predictions for how I think the awards will go.

Album of the Year

André 3000, “New Blue Sun”; Beyoncé, “Cowboy Carter”; Billie Eilish, “Hit Me Hard and Soft”; Chappell Roan, “The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess”; Charli XCX, “Brat”; Jacob Collier, “Djesse Vol. 4”; Sabrina Carpenter, “Short n’ Sweet”; Taylor Swift, “The Tortured Poets Department.”

There are so many amazing artists and albums on this list; I think it’s going to be very difficult to pick a winner. There are also so many strong fandoms with these artists, so whoever gets the Grammy’s pick, there is going to be a lot of controversy. I think a lot of people will assume that Taylor Swift is going to take home the award, but I could also see Beyoncé winning. I do think Billie Eilish deserves this award, but I don’t see her winning.

Record of the Year

The Beatles – “Now and Then”; Beyoncé -“Texas Hold ’Em”; Billie Eilish – “Birds of a Feather”; Chappell Roan – “Good Luck, Babe!”; Charli XCX – “360”; Kendrick Lamar – “Not Like Us”; Sabrina Carpenter – “Espresso”; Taylor Swift Featuring Post Malone – “Fortnight.”

Again, this is a really competitive and tough category. A lot of these songs deserve to take home the award. My personal favorite song from this list is “Birds of a Feather” by Billie Eilish but I’m not sure if it’s going to win. I again see Swift taking home this win with “Fortnight.” It is a really great song. Charli XCX has blown up this past year, but I’m not sure if she resonated enough with everyone. She has a certain type of following that might not appeal to the Academy.

Best New Artist

Benson Boone, Sabrina Carpenter, Doechii, Khruangbin, RAYE, Chappell Roan, Shaboozey, Teddy Swims.

I may be biased because I don’t know some of these artists, but I see Sabrina Carpenter taking home this award. While she is not necessarily new to the industry, she has done tremendous work this year. Her newest album “Short n’ Sweet” has generated so much buzz this year and has proved her to be a standout performer. I could also see Benson Boone winning this category. He opened for Taylor Swift’s Era’s Tour earlier this year and in doing so, gained a lot of attention and popularity.

Best Pop Duo/Group Performance

Gracie Abrams ft. Taylor – “Us”; Beyoncé Featuring Post Malone – “Levii’s Jeans”; Charli XCX & Billie Eilish – “Guess”; Ariana Grande, Brandy & Monica – “The Boy Is Mine”; Lady Gaga & Bruno Mars -“Die With a Smile.”

This is another tough category where I could see anyone winning. My personal favorite song in this category is “Guess” by Charli XCX and Billie Eilish, so I would love for that one to win. I do hope Ariana Grande wins though, because she was snubbed this award season. Grande released “Eternal Sunshine” earlier this year and it did not get a Album of the Year nomination, despite being so popular. “The Boy Is Mine” is a great song, so I definitely see Grande taking home the win with this one.

Best Country Album

Beyoncé – “Cowboy Carter”; Post Malone -“F-1 Trillion”; Kacey Musgraves -“Deeper Well”; Chris Stapleton – “Higher”; Lainey Wilson – “Whirlwind.”

While I do not know too much about country, I have a feeling Beyoncé might win this one. All of the other artists are very successful and have had great albums, but I would be surprised if Beyoncé didn’t win. With eleven Grammy nominations, I’m sure she will take home a couple of wins throughout the night.

Best Song Written for Visual Media

Ain’t No Love In Oklahoma (From “Twisters: The Album”); Better Place (From “TROLLS Band Together”); Can’t Catch Me Now (From “The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes”); It Never Went Away (From “American Symphony”); Love Will Survive (From “The Tattooist of Auschwitz”).

I really hope Olivia Rodrigo’s “Can’t Catch Me Now” wins this one. I fell in love with that song when The Hunger Games prequel came out last year. It’s perfectly written for the movie and, maybe a little biased, but I think it deserves to win. “Ain’t No Love In Oklahoma” was also the perfect song for its movie, “Twisters,” so I could see that one winning, too.

These predictions just crack the surface of all the Grammy nominations. The full list of nominees can be found on Variety. With so much talent, it is shaping up to be an exciting award season! You can watch the 67th annual Grammy Awards on Sun. Feb. 2. 8 P.M. ET.
