With music blaring, hazy smoke rising from long grills, tables full of ketchup and soda and 50 underclassmen hanging out on a sunny day, the Great Tailgate ’08 had begun.
On Saturday, April 19, FUSA hosted its first annual tailgate party in the Kelley Center parking lot and the Levee.
WVOF provided musical entertainment while FUSA contributed grills, condiments and beverages. Students were expected to bring their own food to grill.
The event was received well overall, with students wandering in and out between the baseball and lacrosse games.
“I think they should do this every year. It’s awesome!” said Brooke Cantone ’10, who came to barbecue and celebrated a friend’s birthday.
Amy Cadogan ’11, who was tailgating in preparation for the lacrosse game, said that she liked the idea.
“It’s a change from Barone,” said Cadogan.
Jeff Seiser ’10, president of FUSA, said that the turnout was not too bad and would probably increase if the event became annual.
“I think it’s a tradition we can build upon in future years,” said Seiser.
