The Board of Trustees appointed a 14-member search committee to find a Jesuit successor to Rev. Aloysius P. Kelley, S.J. on Wednesday.
The committee represents students, faculty, administrators, trustees, alumni and the Jesuits.
As of now, the committee consists of:
Seven members of the Board of Trustees:
Rev. Edward Glynn, S.J., president of John Carroll University and chair of the committee Joseph Berardino ’72, former embattled CEO of Arthur Andersen, now of Berardino and Associates LLC William P. Egan ’67, General Partner of Alta Communications Roger M. Lynch ’63, Retired Partner of Goldman Sachs and Co. Elner L. Morrell ’81, Senior I.S. Project Manager for United Health Group Rosellen W. Schnurr ’74 Francis Vincent, Former Commissioner of Major League Baseball
One student:
Kevin Neubauer ’05, FUSA President
One administrator:
Dr. Jeanne Novotny, dean of the School of Nursing
One alumnus:
Bryan LeClerc ’84, President of the Alumni Association
One Jesuit:
Rev. John J. Higgins, S.J., rector of the Jesuit Community.
The three faculty spots on the committee will be decided next Thursday, Oct. 16, according to Dr. Dennis Keenan, professor of philosophy and chair of the Academic Council.
“Finding a successor to Father Kelley, under whose guidance Fairfield has made such dramatic strides, will be a challenge,” said Paul J. Huston ’82, chairman of the Board of Trustees. “Yet, his legacy leaves such a strong foundation on which to build that the Board is confident there will be a number of outstanding candidates who will come forward, eager for the opportunity to take the institution to even greater heights.”
Huston has repeatedly said that the committee will search for a Jesuit successor to Kelley, and told The Mirror that he hopes to have announced a successor “by spring.”
