Time to get into the Christmas spirit.
Campus has shown signs of the coming holiday season in the past few weeks, but upon arrival after break, Christmas seems to be in full swing.
The school store long ago turned their decorations from fall festivities to a Christmas wonderland. Along with many of the decorations in Barone.
However, these small adjustments were simply precursors to the holiday festivities on the horizon.
Slowly, but surely students are beginning to decorate their dorm rooms with lights and small Christmas trinkets. The quad begins to light up with all the hanging lights from windows.
Not to be left out, the townhouses and suites are also putting up all their Christmas decorations.
Sophomore Sarah Namini says, ‘Now that Thanksgiving is over, my roommate and I are starting to put up all our Christmas decorations,’ she continues, ‘ it is nice to see people getting into the Christmas spirit.’
Christmas carols are beginning to erupt from rooms and cars across campus. Even the energy of the students radiates the holiday spirit.
However, decorations and Christmas carols are not the only excitement welcoming the holidays. Several campus trips and events have been planned to celebrate the Christmas season.
Many students will be piling into a bus on Wednesday December 3rd to head into the city to see the ceremonial lighting of the Rockefeller Center Tree. An event that takes place every year and draws in people from many different states.
Emma Wheat ’11 says, ‘ A bunch of us are hoping to make it into the city to see the lighting of the tree, it really starts off the Christmas season.’
To be followed by another trip into the city to see the historical Radio City Christmas Spectacular on December 10, with the world famous Rockettes.
However for those who do not have the time to voyage into the city, there are plenty of events on campus that spread Christmas cheer.
A great example is the Holiday Candy-Gram sale being held by the class of 2010. It is a great chance to send some spirit to friends on campus.
Even with finals on the way, holiday spirit spreads across campus. Whether is comes from excitement for the month without classes or the coming of such an important holiday, students are all gearing up for the holidays.
