Shot Selection: C- The Stags shot well in the first half of the game, shooting 41.2 percent from the field and 2-for-2 from the free throw line. In the second half however, Fairfield threw up a number of poor shots, shooting 19.2 percent, finishing the game with at 31.7 percent. Only freshman Greg Nero finished with a shooting percentage at or above 50 , hitting 6 of the 12 shots he took. But foul trouble forced Nero out of the game early in the second half and he only took four shots in the final 20 minutes, and missed all of them.

Ball Control: A- Despite the Stags’ poor shooting, they had far fewer turnovers than they did in the first four games of the season, turning the ball over only 13 times. Fairfield forced UConn to turn the ball over 17 times for a plus-four margin. The Huskies did have more points off of turnovers, scoring 16 points to the Stags’ 13. The Stags had chances to score off turnovers at other times, but were unable to convert.

Three Point Shooting: C- Fairfield shot only 25 percent from behind the arc, while allowing the Huskies to shoot 54 percent. The Stags top shooters, Mike Van Schaick `07, Herbie Allen `08, and Jonathan Han `08, were a combined 1-7 from long distance. Senior Marty O’Sullivan was 2-5 from three point land.

Tournament Totals: B. Three Stags are at the top of the Hispanic College Fund Classic leader boards after two games. Nero is averaging 15.5 points per game, which is tied for third, Han leads all players with five steals, and O’Sullivan’s seven assists ties him for third in that category.
