Now that Halloween is officially over, there is a pause between seasons. What better way to spend your November than binging on a new TV show? Here are my and fellow Stags’ recommendations to keep you entertained.

“School Spirits”

If you are missing that spooky feeling of Halloween but don’t necessarily want to watch a Halloween-themed show, “School Spirits” is perfect for you! This show is about teenager Maddie Nears who has recently died and finds herself stuck in the afterlife-limbo at her high school. She discovers that every student who has ever died at that school is stuck there forever. Maddie must figure out why she died and how to escape limbo. This is such a fun show and the whole time you will think you know what is going on, but you don’t. Season One is available on Netflix and another season is on the way!

“Yellowjackets”

Another horror-filled show, the series follows a high school girls’ soccer team on their way to their national championship. Their plane crashes on the way to the game and they are trapped in the middle of the woods with no way out and no one to contact. Just to warn you, this show can be very dark and gross at times, but it is one of the best shows I’ve ever seen. The cliffhangers in every episode are amazing as the show interviews between past and present, it will leave you wanting more. They are currently working on season three, which will be available on Paramount+.

“The Good Place”

On a much lighter note, “The Good Place” follows Eleanor Shelltrop (Kristen Bell), a dead woman who is placed in a Heaven-like utopian environment. Eleanor quickly realizes that she does not belong there, due to her less-than-moral life on Earth. From that moment she decides she needs to become a better person to stay in The Good Place. At its core, this is a sitcom focused on moral philosophy. There are so many layers to this show, with each character getting their own chance to shine throughout the “neighborhood.” It combines funny sitcom humor, philosophical ideas and heart-warming friendships. “The Good Place” will have you rethinking every perspective you have on life and I highly recommend you give it a try.

“Gilmore Girls”

While November can feel like the beginning of winter, it is still technically fall! The best way to celebrate the autumn season is with a binge watch of “Gilmore Girls.” This beloved 2000’s show follows mother-daughter duo, Lorelai and Rory Gilmore, as they navigate their lives in small-town Stars Hollow. Sophomore Anna Minino thinks this show is perfect for the autumn season, commenting, “So many episodes just have perfect fall vibes!” She always rewatches“Gilmore Girls” around this time of year. There are also a handful of winter-themed episodes if you are already feeling the Christmas spirit!

“How I Met Your Mother”

Minino also loves the show “How I Met Your Mother!” This sitcom follows Ted Mosby, as he recounts to his children how he met their mother. The series follows Ted’s life along with his tight-knit friend group, set primarily in New York City. This show combines humor, love, friendships and heartbreak to create a perfect bingeable sitcom. Minion says that it’s “a classic that I can always turn on at the end of a busy day.” To anyone looking for a light-hearted and quick show, this one’s for you!

I hope this TV recommendation list finds you well and you can binge on something new. Grab some popcorn, and a cozy blanket and happy watching!
