Some think that singing loud for all to hear is in fact the best way to spread the most holiday cheer. While those people may or may not be elves, there is still no better way to get in the holiday spirit than with some amazing Christmas tunes! Not sure where to start? Do not worry, as I have curated a Christmas playlist with some of the most catchy and festive songs!

“A Very Laufey Holiday: The Santa Baby Edition”

Icelandic singer Laufey’s newest Christmas EP is so good that I could not exclude a single song off the record. From top-notch covers of Christmas classics to outstanding new pieces, this jazzy track is like a warm cup of hot cocoa after spending a day out in the wintery cold! If I were to choose just one song to recommend, it would definitely be “Love to Keep Me Warm”, a beautiful syncopated duet with singer dodie. This song beautifully translates the emotions of love felt during the holiday season! Ever since its release on Nov. 11 it has been on repeat and is a definite must when curating the perfect Christmas playlist!

“Music from the Happy Elf”

Okay, I’m kidding this time. Well, not really. “Happy Elf” is a great movie, and I do highly recommend a watch if you have never seen it, nevertheless, Harry Connick Jr. is always the star of the holiday season when it comes to my music taste. Each of his Christmas covers add a jazzy spunk to what some may believe to be overdone and out of date classics. My personal favorite is “Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow”, adding a light hearted bubbliness through the use of upbeat jazz! It’s definitely a Christmas time staple!

“A Jolly Christmas from Frank Sinatra”

No one is better at mastering a Christmas song than the King himself, Frank Sinatra. Once again I have included an entire album’s worth of music because honestly every Christmas song Sinatra worked on is and forever will be an instant classic! Some of my favorites include, “The Christmas Song” and “Mistletoe and Holly” but every song is worth a listen!

“Christmas”

Staying with the Jazz theme, Michael Bublé continues to be the King of Christmas. This is the last album this time- I swear! What is Christmas without Michael Bublé? This entire record is filled to the brim with masterful covers of fan favorite Christmas Classics! “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot like Christmas”, “Santa Claus Is Coming to Town” and “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” are standouts, but the entire album is a must listen in order to get into the holiday spirit!

“Little Saint Nick”

Released by the Beach Boys in 1964, this spunky Christmas song might just be my very favorite! The animated track throws its listeners right there on the toboggan with the proclaimed “Little Saint Nick”, whipping them through the snow in order to deliver presents! The perfect song to listen to while participating in a snowball fight!

“Run Rudolph Run”

Another quick-fire of a Christmas song, “Run Rudolph Run” gets listeners’ hearts racing as they are thrown into action, running alongside the red-nosed reindeer as he hurries to help Santa drive his sleigh! Performed by Chuck Berry, this track is simply a classic, and once again the perfect song to blast while throwing around some snow!

“fruitcake”

Gracing our ears in Nov. of 2023, Sabrina Carpenter exposes her genius lyricism in this incredible Christmas EP. I know that once again I am recommending an entire record, but there is not a song that falls short on this track, I mean, it is Sabrina Carpenter. Filled with the classic Carpenter cheekiness this EP perfectly encapsulates what it feels like to be an annoyed teenager spending all of their time with their family during the holidays dreaming of a love that went sour (Sorry, didn’t mean to make the Olivia Rodrigo connection). If I had to choose just one song though, it would definitely be “is it new years yet?”. This peppy song is filled to the brim with bouncy and spirited beats that get stuck in your head for weeks!

“The Christmas Song”

This 1960’s smooth jazz beat is another Christmas staple! Nat King Cole’s soothing voice mirrors the comfort of laying by an open fire on a cold winter night, making the track a classic that has withstood the test of time! Just look out for Jack Frost, I’ve heard he likes to nip at noses.

“Jingle Bell Rock”

A favorite of mine growing up, “Jingle Bell Rock” is the perfect mix of classic and rock n’ roll Christmas! Performed by Bobby Helms and released in 1957, this tune is sure to get listeners up on their feet and dancing at any holiday party!

“Rockin Around the Christmas Tree”

Another tune that just makes you want to stand up and dance, the energetic “Rocking Around the Christmas Tree” can add some life into any dull holiday party! Performed by Brenda Lee this is certainly a Christmas season classic!

“All I Want For Christmas Is You” and “Underneath the Tree”

What would be a Christmas playlist without Mariah Carey and Kelly Clarkson? Officially defrosted, these Christmas Queens take the season by storm, or should I say a snow squall! Each of these tracks are filled with power and are definitely modern classics!

“What Christmas Means To Me”

Another one of my favorites, Stevie Wonder’s 1967 classic is the perfect way to spread holiday cheer! For me, this song is the best to place while dancing around my kitchen- I mean, baking cookies in the oven!

“Someday at Christmas”

Another Stevie Wonder classic, this song is also performed by the Jackson 5! A beautiful rendition of new year somberness, this record gives listeners hope to their fears about what’s to come. This classic is best listened to while curled up by the fire!

While there are way too many incredible Christmas tunes to include on this list, each and every one of these songs is the perfect way to bring on the holiday cheer this Christmas season! Happy listening!
