A kaleidoscope of color popped out against the coal-black carpet, from green and pink hues represented by fabulous feathers and boisterous bubbles, to more classic and sophisticated looks of silver and gold. Celebrities from all over Hollywood found themselves recreating their favorite looks from the beloved characters of the fantastical world of “Wicked” on Nov. 9 at the Los Angeles Premiere for the newest John M. Chu film.
Following a theme for each stop on their tour, on Nov. 3 Munchkinland was visited in Sydney, and Shiz University was attended in Los Angeles on Nov. 9.
Dynamic duo and stars of the newest “Wicked” adaptation, Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo unsurprisingly stunned on the carpet, paying a beautiful homage to Glinda and Elphaba respectively. Known as the Good Witch, Grande donned a delicate 1950’s inspired pink and white gingham dress all tied together with matching gloves and bow, as well as elegant pearl earrings and sparkly silver heels. This refined look was one of the best of the night. Simple yet effective. Erivo stayed true to her character’s green roots, glowing as she posed on the carpet with an elegant emerald dress paired with a green feathered cardigan and striking silver jewelry. Decked out nails with accents of black, green and silver only add to this empowering look, mirroring the never wavering will of Elphaba.

Broadway superstars, Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel also made a remarkable appearance. Chenoweth, who originated the role of Glinda on Broadway, appeared in a glossy and bright dress with matching silver and gold heels. Her smile was not the only thing shining, as the reflective nature of her gown had it actually glowing in the cameralight. A more simple look, Idina Menzel who originated the role of Elphaba on Broadway, was seen in a sleek black floor length gown, wearing an eye-catching smokey eye and holding a clutch purse with an emerald clasp as a nod to the importance of green.
Continuing what fan theory believes to be an homage to each of the men of Oz, Jonathan Bailey was seen in a shining silver button up top, white slacks, and ruby red shoes. On his chest, a red flower was incorporated to match. Many “Wicked” watchers believe that Bailey is dressing as the Tin Man, while his yellow look in Australia could be tied to the Lion. As the first stop on the “Wicked” world premiere, the Lion, is the first companion Dorothy stumbles upon. Similarly, on the night of the second premiere event, Bailey represented the second companion to the ruby red shoe wearer meets on her journey to Oz. Fans will just have to wait and see what the Bridgerton star wears in Mexico City, New York and London to determine whether the theory is fact or fiction.

Award-winning American actress Sara Paulson, also joined the group of excited celebrities on the carpet. Donning an oversized blush pink button-up pantsuit, the “American Horror Story” star could have added some more pizazz to her more corporate look. Similarly, American actress and singer Ashley Tisdale could have added a bit more shine to her pant-suit look, paying a better homage to the wonderful wackiness of the world of Oz.
While the film’s official release is scheduled for later this month on Nov. 22, fans and celebrities alike can not get enough of the inspired looks found at the “Wicked” premieres. Stay tuned for more fabulous looks as the cast travels to New Mexico, New York and London.
