He said: the morning after

Imagine waking up to the horrifying realization that your special lady-friend from the night before has fallen asleep on top of your arm. Do you risk making a sudden movement that may wake her up? Do you pretend to sleep while yearning to run to the bathroom? Do you picture that scene from “Saw” where the guy needs to saw off his own leg or stay chained forever? Every so often, things will get hot and heavy and you will wake up in a haze lying next to some hottie. After all, this is college. Although the situation is initially awkward, a few small steps can make the resulting situation, and eventual walk of shame, much more manageable. For starters, if you hook up with the same type of girls I have, they are going to be severely dehydrated in the morning. Keeping some Advil around and some Gatorade in the fridge is a good idea to help ease her hangover. This is when sleeping at the other person’s place is a huge advantage. That will allow you to be in control of when the awkwardness ends. You can check out any time you want, but try not to sneak out at the ass-crack of dawn. If you end up at her place, make haste and get out quickly. If a morning hook-up is not in the cards, be reasonable and get back to your room before your end zone-style celebration. Do not leave anything behind, under any circumstance, ever. Articles of clothing may have been strewn about the room with no semblance of order. Both of you need to find your clothes and her StagCard and get cracking. If you leave something behind, you might never see it again and you will have to enlist one of your friends to steal it back. Finally, if she’s at your place, if the tangled sex-hair was not evidence enough, the clothes from the night before will scream “walk of shame” as she strolls back to her room. Let her borrow whatever she wants so she looks less disheveled. (Also, never accuse anyone of making the walk of shame. Some people are just not morning people and look awful regardless of what they did the night before.) If you heed any of this advice, heading back to your room will be less of a “walk of shame” and more of a “stride of pride.”
