A new semester often brings in new styles and trends that fit the season. Especially following a break where holidays were celebrated and gifts were given, many students around campus have been sporting their new outfits for the first week of classes. New brands have gained popularity this winter, while older ones still remain steadfast in their trendiness. Winter also brings out specific looks and styles that are classic fashion for the season. Some trends that can be seen around campus this first week back include matching sweat sets, plenty of new winter puffer jackets and coats, athleisure and different types of new shoes.
One clothing trend that is popular around campus at this time of year is “The Super Puff Jacket” from Aritzia. Students around campus bring this jacket out when the temperature starts to drop. The Super Puff comes in plenty of different colors and styles for whatever a person may be looking for to fit their winter look. Aritzia’s jacket is a very popular, but pricier, jacket that can be seen throughout this season. However, other brands of winter coats can also be spotted. North Face, Carhartt and more are other favorites for Fairfield students trying to stay warm on their commutes to class in the colder months.
Sophomore Olivia Foran noted some changes in typical winter coat staples that she is used to seeing, and she mentioned that she has seen more longer winter coats around campus after break. While hip-length jackets are still in the majority for winter staples, coats that reach down to at least a person’s knee have been growing in popularity. Foran says that she has decided to embrace the new look. She ordered a longer jacket herself because she feels as thorough it will keep her warmer than a shorter coat might.
Jackets and coats are not the only way to keep warm in this chilly season. Some students seem to have been interested in matching sweatshirts and sweatpant sets. These sets are the perfect outfit to wear on a lazier day, while still maintaining a “put-together” look. The comfort and warmth they offer make them a go-to choice for those colder mornings with 8 a.m. classes or relaxed afternoons spent studying. They are available from many brands and come in a variety of colors and designs. It’s easy to mix and match these sets to create an effortless and cozy look.
As the winter season continues, many Fairfield students embrace a mix of both classic and trendy styles to stay warm and stylish. From matching sweat sets to puffer jackets and longer winter coats, the campus is filled with many different fashion choices. Whether students are preparing for a chilly morning class commute or aiming for a more relaxed look, the variety of winter trends this semester show that staying warm doesn’t mean sacrificing style. There are so many new and classic styles and trends for students to choose from for fashion looks this winter.
